It was very windy (a constant companion on the plains), but I was able to get this image between the gusts. I love how graceful and light this little flower was among all the hard and brittle grass.</p>]]></description>

On a hot, bright afternoon hike, I was cooling my feet splashing around the creek and noticed the dancing reflections in the ripples. Using a slow shutter speed, I noticed how the water looked like a painting with splashes of color. Not a typical view of Southwestern Utah, but a beautiful detail, nonetheless!</p>]]></description>

The water level was very low due to a mild winter. As I waded through the water, I noticed the reflections of the sky, vegetation, and red rock walls in the ripples. Add to that red rock and bright green algae and voila! You have colorful textures! As I was cooling off in Mill Creek on a hot, clear day outside of Moab, I saw this jewel-like scene.</p>]]></description>

The ice fingers of winter encircled these recently fallen aspen leaves one morning in Rocky Mountain National Park. It had not officially snowed that night, but the frost was noticeably thick. Fall seemed to have just begun, but this morning was a reminder that winter is quickly approaching.</p>]]></description>
